The process of swelling generates pressures that can cause lifting, or heaving of structures whilst shrinkage process can cause differential settlement. A large number of buildings and roads are placed on such soil and exposed to the danger from this swelling and shrinkage processes. In order to avoid the previous mentioned risk from the expansive soil, a technique of soil stabilization should be made for this type of soil to enhance some of its properties. In this study, we experimentally treated a particular type of an expansive soil as a subgrade material by adding three different types of chemical additives which are (Addicrete P), (Addibond 65) and (Glass Fibers) at different mixing ratios 2, 4, 6% to maintain an enhanced subgrade layer according to its swelling and bearing behavior. A series of laboratory-coded tests were conducted on the native soil. Tests are Atterberge limits, Modified proctor, and California bearing ratio test. The same tests are also conducted on each soil-additive mixed sample. Results showed that there is a tendency from the soil to stabilize by these additives. California bearing ratio was increased from 4.7% to 8.05% and the expansion after the 96 hours soaking time was eliminated from 4.95 millimeters to 0.35 millimeter. This is considered the best effect and was a result from mixing the native soil with a percent of 6% Addicrete P.}, keywords = {Addicrete P,Addibond 65,Glass Fibers,Expansive Soil,Soil stabilization}, url = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_117591.html}, eprint = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_117591_218384f767a8cb5163eb6f1f6e34621b.pdf} } @article { author = {Abdul-Zaher, Ahmad Saudi and Abdul-Hafez, Laila Mahmoud and Tawfic, Yasser Rifat and Hammed, Osama}, title = {SHEAR BEHAVIOR OF FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS}, journal = {JES. Concrete members like brackets, corbels and ledger beams may fail in shear. Such failure can be sudden and brittle. The presence of fibers positively affects the behavior of concrete, as it increases the residual shear transfer and reduces the formation and extension of cracks. As many parameters affect it, shear strength of FRC could not be precisely detected. Experimental investigation was carried out to study the shear transfer of un-cracked fibrous concrete. The study investigates the shear strength of FRC beams. The experimental parameters were the type and the percentage of fibers volume fraction and the presence of stirrups in reinforced concrete beams. Test results showed that the presence of fibers resulted in higher values of shear strength, stiffness, ductility and controlled the concrete cracking behavior. Instead of glass fibers, the use of steel fibers improved overall shear behavior of concrete.}, keywords = {}, url = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_117592.html}, eprint = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_117592_708789ff0193dcc41fca80c8efe8dade.pdf} } @article { author = {Mohammed, Hammad Abo-Zied and Ziedan, Hamdy A.}, title = {DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A STAND-ALONE PHOTOVOLTAIC LED ROAD LIGHTING SYSTEM}, journal = {JES. The CVDs can be diagnosed through the usage of the features extracted from the P-waves, PR-intervals, QRS-complexes, ST-segments, T- and U-waves. The irregularity of beat phases is generally called arrhythmia and some arrhythmias are very dangerous for patients. The types of arrhythmias that can be diagnosed using the Electrocardiogram (ECG) features include: sinus bradycardia, ventricular tachycardia, sinus arrhythmia, atrial premature contraction. In addition, right and left bundle branch block, atrial fibrillation and flutter, heart block as well as coronary artery diseases such as ST- and non ST-elevation myocardial infarction can be diagnosed using ECG signal features. This paper introduces automatic ECG signal interpretations adopted for detecting CVDs. It investigates the effect of compressing the ECG signals on evaluating the performance of diagnosing CVDs. This has been performed by introducing a Dedicated Diagnostic Distortion Measure (3DM) that is based on comparing the complex features of the original and the reconstructed ECG signals while keeping a pre-determined diagnostic error and good reconstructed signal quality. In fact, the allowable pre-determined diagnostic error is a disease dependent. The diagnostic features considered in this paper include duration features, amplitude features and shape features. Consultations with cardiologists through Mean Opinion Score (MOS) test show that the proposed 3DM is most informative compared to the well-known percentage root-mean square difference in the evaluation of compression techniques oriented for CVDs diagnosing. The price paid for the usage of 3DM as a good performance metric is the computational complexity in calculating the diagnostic features. However, the calculated features can be adopted for diagnosing purposes.}, keywords = {ECG compression,Telediagnoses and Telemonitoring,Cardiovascular disease,Arrhythmias,Blood vessels,MOS test}, url = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_117594.html}, eprint = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_117594_7bdbdd25196830f24b44315a323f5c0d.pdf} } @article { author = {Bady, M. and Hassanien, Hassanien Manaa}, title = {INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECTS OF CONDENSER DE-SCALING ON THE EXHAUST EMISSIONS AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THERMAL POWER PLANTS}, journal = {JES. The de-scaling process of the condenser can be considered as the key solution to avoid the declination of power plant performance. Accordingly, the objective of the current investigation is to study the impacts of condenser de-scaling process on the performance and exhaust emissions of thermal power plants by using an environment-friendly de-scaling agent. In this study, Assiut Thermal Power Plant (ATPP) has been carefully chosen to carry out the investigation, where the maximum load achieved on 2010 was 200 MWh out of the design load 312 MWh. Results indicate that condenser de-scaling process resulted in a significant improvement of the turbine efficiency and increased the maximum load generated to be 290 MWh rather than the previous value of 200 MWh. Additionally, a major reduction in the fuel consumption is attained which leads to decrease the exhaust emissions of CO, SOx, and NOx. Moreover, a considerable reduction of CO2 emissions by more than 600 ton/day is acquired, which decreases the thermal pollution and reduces the contribution to global warming.}, keywords = {Power Plant,Condenser de-scaling,Exhaust Emissions}, url = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_117595.html}, eprint = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_117595_de710879126c410ccc0ed0909c461dba.pdf} } @article { author = {Ali, Nanees Abdelhamid Mohammed}, title = {TOWARDS ECO-FRIENDLY STRATEGY TO REVIVE THE HISTORICAL AREA IN JEDDAH}, journal = {JES.
