The major part of the Improvement System is the replacement of the existing earthen Mesqas with raised and lined Mesqas or buried pipeline Mesqas. These kinds of Mesqas are intended to eliminate the seepage of water through their cross sections; the end of these Mesqas is closed to prevent water losses to drains. Also, the area of the open water surfaces of the improved Mesqas will be less than the area of the open water surfaces of the earthen Mesqas. So, the amount of evaporation from the open water surfaces will reduce. In Beni Adi el Bahariya Village (the study area) in Assiut Governorate, according to the Irrigation Improvement Management (IIM) in Assiut Governorate, June 1999 (end of the feasibility study in the study area), the area of the open water surfaces of the earthen Mesqas has been estimated to be about 19840 square meters. After finishing the improvement process; this area was reduced to be about 6250 square meters. So, the reduction in the amount of evaporation in Beni Adi el Bahariya Village (the study area) due to the Irrigation Improvement System is about 69 % of that was before improvement. The improved Mesqas are intended to eliminate the seepage of water through their cross sections, so; the amounts of water that are lost by seepage from the earthen Mesqas which are about 270000 m3 annually are saved after the improvement. In addition to the benefit of the Irrigation Improvement System in saving some quantities of water which led to increase the inflow discharge to the study area, there are other benefits (according to Monitoring and Evaluation Reports of IIM in Assiut Governorate, 2009). These benefits are land saving: where, there is about 3 % of the total area served by Mesqas which is about 1 % of the total command area saved and made available for agriculture and roads. Also, irrigation time reduced by 50 % to 60 % of that was before improvement process which made water available all the time in the Mesqas with the adequate quantities, the cost of pumping reduced by 64 % which was a result of a single point lifting on the Mesqa and The increase in crop yields (according to agricultural association in Beni Adi el Bahariya village, 2009) due to the better conditions of water availability, Increase in wheat, cotton and maize were estimated at 10 %, 18 % and 9 %, respectively. Irrigation Improvement System couldn’t achieve increasing of on-farm efficiency because of farmers’ bad use of water, where; they used to irrigate by high flow rates which lead to increase leakage from the farm land. Therefore, Field design and irrigation management practices have a significant impact on surface irrigation performance. Reductions in management variables such as irrigation time and design flow rate of the system can lead to improvements in irrigation efficiencies and water saving.}, keywords = {Seepage,Evaporation,Mesqas and Irrigation Improvement Management (IIM)}, url = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_125565.html}, eprint = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_125565_4734c4a0c77f49b5613a2c4167e186f9.pdf} } @article { author = {Mahmoud, Khaled Ahmed}, title = {PARAMETRIC STUDY OF STEEL BEAMS TEMPERATURE IN COMPARTEMENT SUBJECTED TO REAL FIRE SCENARIOS}, journal = {JES. Concrete of higher compressive strength have been produced currently and increasingly used by the designers and contractors. Therefore, the main purpose of the research described in this paper is to give better and full understanding of the shear behavior of high strength concrete rectangular beams strengthened with epoxy bonded external steel side plates and subjected to static load. The main variables studied were the geometric dimensions of bonded steel plates, width, position and arrangements, thickness of plate bonded on both sides of shear zone of beams, the effect of haunches (Negative haunches (-0.20) and positive haunches (+0.20)) and effect of quality degree of used concrete strength. During the tests cracking load, ultimate load, concrete strains, steel strains and deflection under load application were measured Test results showed that the width, position, arrangements and thickness of plate used considerably affects strength, deformation and mode of failure of the tested beams. Increasing the width, position, arrangements and thickness of plate bonded on both sides of shear zone of beams increases the cracking and ultimate capacities of the strengthened beams. Increasing the quality degree of concrete strength decreases the relative cracking and ultimate capacities of the strengthened beams compared to unstrengthened beams. The rectangular DRA is fed with a modified stepped Microstrip feed to ensure efficient coupling between the RDRA and the feeder. Broadband operation is achieved by loading the rectangular dielectric resonator antenna with conducting metallic strip which results in a new resonance beside the antenna operating frequency. The performance of the proposed antenna has been significantly improved by loading the RDRA with two narrow conducting metallic strips of suitable lengths, which results in dual-resonance excitation and leads to a wider operating bandwidth (up to 23.75 %). The frequency characteristics and radiation performance of the proposed antenna are successfully optimized using numerical experimentation techniques. The antenna size reduction is demonstrated while maintaining a reasonable bandwidth. It is based on using Bspline wavelets, as the smoothing filter for the data histogram distribution. Due to the excellent energy concentration feature of Bspline wavelets, this estimation was found to be accurate and robust of probability density function (pdf) estimation that are needed in some linear blind source separation (BSS) designs. The validity of the proposed technique is checked by its ability of recovering linearly blind source BSS, with a simple check to verify exact source recovery when no information is available about the mixing system. The effect of some mechanical and geological parameters on the penetration rate during drilling limestone rocks has been previously carried out by using a low rotary speed of 400 rpm. In this work, the drilling trails were carried out on the same rocks and by using the same machine and bit at high rotary speed of approximately 1200 rpm. A fixed laboratory-diamond drilling machine was used to drill three types of limestone rocks utilizing rotational speed of 1200 rpm, and over a range of weights on bit (WOB). Operating parameters of the drill bit such as WOB, rate of penetration (ROP), torque and drilling specific energy (SE) were continuously monitored during the drilling trials. The effects of these parameters on the performance of the bit were examined. Relationships between WOB and both ROP, and SE were also described and the relationship between ROP and SE was also given. The obtained results were compared with that obtained by using a low rotary speed of 400 rpm. Increasing the rotary speed from 400 rpm to 1200 rpm increases the rate of penetration 3 times for Fresh limestone at the optimum weight on bit of 105 kg and this leads to decrease the specific energy. To obtain ROP of 0.5 cm/min as an example, the drilling machine needs S.E in Non-Fresh Limestone 3 times that for Fresh limestone and 2 times for Bedded limestone.}, keywords = {}, url = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_125575.html}, eprint = {https://jesaun.journals.ekb.eg/article_125575_56babb316170ed4a8a5707d1706e06b4.pdf} } @article { author = {Mahmoud, Ayman Ragab Abdelrady and Elkady, Shawkat M.
