Abstract
Paying Attention to quality of life in the urban communities is a result of the emergence of the planned and the unplanned residential communities, and the dissatisfaction of individuals with housing current condition and the pervasion of deterioration and randomness aspects. So, this research aims at studying the interactive relationship between community and the urban environment, and quality of life concept, through its main indicators which should be present in the community, the analyzing of the individual-related standards and indicators, and individual's conduct in the community. And also individuals' degree of satisfaction with the residential area they live in. This is implemented through studying international experiences which has made analyses of the quality concept in their towns, and the implementation of two of the quality standards namely; the social and the urban standards on one of the residential communities in Cairo, and the degree the individuals are influenced through the correlation between the individual, his community culture, and the urban environment. The research has resulted in that quality concept is a relative one that differs from one person to another. The common factor is the fundamental indispensable needs. It also has been found that some individuals are affected with life style deterioration, lack of basic needs and, as a result, the emergence of some negative behaviors, loss of attachment to community, pervasion of crimes and the insecure feelings in some communities. from this point, the main issues of the research paper can be summarized as follows: • Community and Urban Environment • Quality of life – Concepts and Views • International Experiences of Studying quality of life for Development of Urban Communities. • Suggested quality of life Indicators • Empirical Study of quality of life Indicators in Tora.
