Architecture department, Faculty of engineering, Assuit university, Egypt.
Abstract
The minaret is one of the important architectural elements associated with the building of mosques, which is the result of the functional role of the frying pan in addition to its visual and symbolic role, as it has distinctive architectural characteristics and has become a land mark in Islamic cities. The shape and design of minarets through different Islamic eras has been influenced by the specific geographical areas, political factors and governance systems. As a result of the common terms of government between Yemen and Egypt, the idea of a research paper for an analytical study of the influence of patterns in the architecture of the various Islamic eras on the minarets of the two countries, and then comparing the architectural output between the most important minarets of the various Islamic eras that emerged in The two countries from the era of Islam to the Ottoman era, the area of study in Yemen has been identified in the Western and central Highlands region of Yemen, which includes the regions (Sana'a, Dhamar, Shebam, Ibb, Taiz) and Egypt in the Cairo minarets. In order to achieve the objective of the research paper, the concepts of the minaret, their origins and their evolution in the Islamic world were presented in the first part of the paper, while in the second part of the paper the minarets were studied in Yemen and Egypt in the specified time period, and a comparative analysis of the development The minarets building in Yemen and Egypt, drawing the most important aspects of the consensus and the difference between them and the extent to which the prevailing patterns in the Islamic world affect the minarets of the two countries. The research concludes that the minarets building in Yemen and Egypt has been influenced by the prevailing patterns in the Muslim world, although the impact is limited in the minarets of Yemen, where the local character of the region has been overwhelmed, with a multitude of non-Yemeni-ruled areas, which have produced different patterns at the same stage, and the reciprocal effect has emerged in Minarets building in the two countries in some stages.
