Abstract
Alexandria is one of the most important Egyptian cities on the Mediterranean Sea. It is the first Port and 2 nd city after the capital in Egypt. As a result of its historical roots, Alex Characterized by different architectural styles since the greeter Macedonian Alexander had built in 331 BC. Alex opened up to external world, influenced by many ancient civilizations around Egypt, so it lived economic growth led to its architectural popularity. At the beginning of 20th century, many Egyptian architects studied in European universities, where they affected with ancient architecture especially classic styles in Europe After architects return to Egypt , they designed many buildings belong to the new classic styles exactly like whom in Europe , and these buildings consider landmarks in Egyptian architecture till now Facades are a main part of building, express about its style and order. Have many elements and details.so it is considered the massage which architects arrive to the world. Facades express about architects, s ideas, believes, trends in design like return to ancient styles or looking forward to future. unfortunately, at the begging of 21th century , there is a bad phenomenon in Alex city called re using classic styles without preserve of elements , s proportions , correct relationship between vocabularies of style „ s elements in my opinion Alex phenomenon is metamorphosis of the original classic style ,produce distorted buildings, visually and mentally Why architects today differ from pioneer generation in the 20 th century? Why all these weeks and superficial treatment towards building façades? What is the massage architects try to arrive to world today? Is financial status only pushing architects to this or there are other reasons?
