Abstract
The study aims to evaluate the extent of application of architectural design standards for autism centers, and to know the concepts and principles of special architectural design standards for individuals with autism, within their buildings, facilities, and environments. The problem of the research lies in the inadequacy of architectural design in providing the needs and specifications within the building for the individuals of the same unit. The methodology relied on previous studies to identify the special concepts in the field of care for people with special needs, define and understand the behaviours inside buildings that affect individuals with autism, study and analyze a case study of a building specialized in caring for individuals with autism, and distribute a questionnaire to users to obtain their opinions about the integrity of the building’s specifications and the extent to which they are provided for individuals with autism. The results of the study indicate that 53% strongly agree that the center’s facilities provide appropriate needs for autism, the design meets security and safety standards, the optimal use of lighting is met, and that the colors used in the center are appropriate. 41% agree that the center is consistent with the applications existing, that the furniture used, that the sanitary, mechanical installations and windows used are appropriate for individuals with autism. تهدف الدراسة إلى تقييم مدى تطبيق معايير التصميم المعماري لمراكز التوحد، ومعرفة المفاهيم والمبادئ لمعايير التصميم المعمارية الخاصة لأفراد التوحد، داخل المباني والمرافق والبيئات الخاصة لهم. تكمن مشكلة البحث في قصور التصميم المعماري في توفير الاحتياجات والمواصفات داخل المبنى لأفراد التواحد. اعتمدت المنهجية على الدراسات السابقة للتعرف على المفاهيم الخاصة لمجال رعاية ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، وتعريف وفهم السلوكيات داخل المباني التي تؤثر على أفراد التوحد، ودراسة وتحليل حالة دراسية لمبنى متخصص لرعاية أفراد التوحد، وتوزيع استبانة على المستخدمين لاستجلاء أراءهم حول تكامل مواصفات المبنى ومدى توفيرها لأفراد التوحد. تشير نتائج الدراسة بأن 53% يتفقون بشدة على أن مرافق المركز توفر الاحتياجات المناسبة للتوحد، كما أن التصميم مستوفي لمعايير الأمن والسلامة والاستخدام الأمثل للإضاءة بنسبة 44% متفقين بشدة، أما الألوان المستخدمة بنسبة 41% متفقين، ويتضح بأن المركز متناسق مع التطبيقات الموجودة، والاثاث المستخدم والتركيبات الصحية والميكانيكية والنوافذ المستخدمة مناسبة لأفراد التوحد.
