Abstract
The development in functions of the shopping centers has refered to their transformation from being specialized in commercial activities only to various Activites such as: Entertainment, cultural, social and sports services. These activities have refered to confusion in general concept, types and gradations. Of this helps them to determine main components or zones functional elements that are supposed of each type of building
The development of a comprehensive classification of these types based on foundations and design indicators and according to international organizations standards such as: International Council of Shopping Center etc, And thus ،The research examined and analyzed the classification in some local models to verify the classification reached and then analyzes the current status of Egypt in the new cities. To a clear classification that helps in the design of contemporary shopping centers in the future. And then to conduct a survey on this classification for three categories representing the Egyptian society dealing with these shopping centers, the public and urban specialists and investors to take their views in the classification reached to make sure that it is compatible with the Egyptian reality.
